  • Project Coordinator and Fisheries Biologist: Cannabis for Conservation is an Arcata-based nonprofit focused on environmental stewardship on and around cannabis farms. We are hiring a Project Coordinator & Fisheries Biologist, with a start date as soon as possible.   • Caltrans Environmental Coordinator (Environmental Scientist, Permanent, Full Time): Caltrans Environmental Scientists perform a broad range of work concerning environmental issues related to protecting California's resources as related to transportation projects. Incumbents do field analyses; prepare environmental documents and technical studies, environmental permitting packages and regulatory permits; ensure compliance with various environmental laws and regulations; and conduct environmental protection, planning, and mitigation activities. Incumbents apply scientific methods and principles to analyze and evaluate available data on the effects of transportation projects on all aspects of the environment; prepare and review CEQA/NEPA and other technical documents to determine the effects; and implement mitigation strategies to lessen the impact of those projects

  • 2025 Seasonal Field Botanist in Northern California (Modoc National Forest): The main objectives of this position include field data collection while conducting floristic surveys, rare plant inventories, noxious weed surveys and general special status plant habitat monitoring. Identification of plants using dichotomous keys are highly desirable for this position. The work requires safe navigation using GPS and topographic maps, operating 4-wheel drive vehicles on backcountry roads and must possess clean, valid, state-issued driver’s license. Physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking over rough, steep, rocky surfaces with recurring stooping, reaching, or bending and lifting of moderately heavy objects up to 50 pounds is required. Housing in barracks is potentially available at government rates.
