​Conservation Affairs Committee

The CNCC TWS Conservation Committee works with the National TWS to "identif[y] and addres[s] policy priorities within [our] region" because we "have a responsibility as a scientific societ[y] for professional wildlife managers and conservationists to address issues that affect the current and future status of wildlife" (wildlife.org/policy). Part of this involves commenting on local or national legislation or projects (providing comments both for and against, depending on the environmental issues). Most recently, we provided for the comments to the Trump administration's proposed rulemaking that would rescind the definition of “harm” from regulations implementing the Endangered Species Act (ESA) - see infographic below. The chapter has also provided comments on the proposed Humboldt Wind Project, and the federal Border Wall.  If you'd like to be involved in the Conservation Committee, we are always accepting new members!
